So, I'm actually making this for a friend for her birthday, and I thought it would be a good first craft thing to put on my blog! :)
So, here we go!
Things I used: a piece of thick cardboard, acrylic paint, clothespins, and hot glue.
And it was all fairly cheap, for those on budgets and whatnot...
I honestly don't remember where I got the cardboard.... The paint ranged from about $0.80-$1.50, clothespins were about $1.50 or so for a pack of 24 (and I got 2), and hot glue (if you don't have a glue gun, Hobby Lobby sells some for cheap!) for about $2-3 for a pack of 25 or so.
Let's get started!
I used a bowl to measure out how big I wanted my circle, and then used a bigger bowl to measure the edges (and yes, those are my toes...).
Also, if you don't want to do a circle, go for it! Circle was just the option I decided to do! :)
After I marked the measurements, I painted the circle. At first, I thought it might've been a bad idea, but it actually worked better!
While I let the first layer of paint dry, I painted the clothespins. Don't be afraid to get your fingers a little messy, it'll wash right off!
Now, about this time, it was really late at night so I let it all sit overnight.
The next morning, I used an exacto knife to cut out the circle from the cardboard and the inside of the circle.
It took a little patience, but it came out lovely. Also, don't be afraid if your circle looks a little distorted; it gives it character!
The next part is to glue the clothespins onto the circle. This also takes a lot of patience.
Make sure that when you're gluing, that you make sure it dries completely before testing if it stays (I know that I have trouble waiting because I get too excited).
I started off alternating colors, like so, before I added the pinks ones in (I was mainly making sure that's the way I wanted it).
And they were super cheap (a box of 6 or 8 for $1.47 at Hobby Lobby)!!
Now that all of your clothespins are on the circle, it's time to find a lovely place for it!
(Sorry it doesn't have any pictures on it! I needed to wrap it up! I'll update it later whenever she puts some pictures on it!)
I hope you guys like it!
