Monthly Favorites: October

Fall in Texas almost doesn't exist.
It doesn't truly get colder here until about mid to late November...
So unfortunate....
Anywho, October IS the time for those awesome fall things so we may as well get to it.

1. Olympus Note Corder DP-201
I've had this sucker for a about a year and I still love it. It's simple, small, and super handy. I use this in some of my classes to help me take notes better. Sometimes, professors talk fast and jump subjects and you can miss things. This has helped me grades significantly because I can go back, listen to my lectures, and see what I missed or wrote down wrong. This is by far one of the best investments that I have made in college career. I got mine here, but I've also seen them in stores (and be sure to look for sales and coupons because when I got mine for about $25 on sale).

2. Evernote
This is my main go-to for taking notes. I find that if I use [Microsoft] Word, it corrects a lot of things and messes with the set up that I want and I have to go back (multiple times) and correct it. I love Word, don't get me wrong, but for note taking, it isn't my favorite. I've been using Evernote for about a year and it's extremely handy. You can separate notes by tags and/or notebooks and organize your notes better. What I really like is that you can download Evernote on your phone, tablet, and computer and can access them easily. For example, I take my Surface 2 to class to take my notes, but I use my computer for research and studying. I can access my notes that I take on my tablet on my computer without having to upload it; it's automatically synced. I'm obsessed with it and it seriously is one of my favorite things. You also don't have to use it just for notes! Go ahead and visit the site here to see the various and awesome other things you can do with it!

3. My Rosie the Riveter Halloween Costume
Yes, I know this is kind of a selfish favorite, but being a History major and obsessed with WWII, I chose to be Rosie the Riveter for Halloween this year. If you don't know who Rosie is, she is one of the most powerful women figures in History, but especially in WWII. She stood for women  being able to do men's work while the boys were at war. I love it! I got my top at Goodwill (just on luck, so I'm sure if you browse, you'll find it), I made my bandanna with some red fabric and some white fabric paint, and I wore loose, plain sweatpants (because Rosie needed to be comfy).  I made a little poof at the front end of my head and very neutral tones for my makeup.  During the 40s, bold cat eyes and wings were the thing, so I made sure to make them bold!

4. Alli Speed (@allispeed)
This woman is one of my role models. She's a beautiful woman with a gorgeous heart and loving soul. She does makeup tutorials, favorites hauls, drunk gaming, and travels to so many places. She's had her hardships, but that hasn't stopped her from showing us her world. She graduated from Florida State, has been on the YouTube seen for a good few years, and has a handsome pup named Chico. I love her and her positivity. She's pushed through the obstacles to find her sunshine. Thanks, Alli. <3

5. Bedtime Bliss Eye Mask (and ear plugs)
By far one of my favorite investments. Although I have curtains in my room, sometimes a lot of light manages to still come in. That, or whenever I travel, the places aren't always going to be easy to go to sleep. After a lot of contemplation and budget confirming, I decided to purchase on and I love it sooooooo much. I got it on Amazon, but I'm certain you can get this one (or one like it) anywhere--especially Bed, Bath, & Beyond!
